A comprehensive eye exam may last up to an hour and typically includes:

• Checking visual acuity (how sharp your vision is) and determining your eyeglass prescription

• Measuring eye pressure to screen for glaucoma

• A visual fields test to identify blind spots or peripheral vision problems

• A cover test to detect crossed eyes or binocular vision issues

• A slit lamp exam to evaluate the health of the front of the eye

• A dilated eye exam to examine the retina and optic nerve
