LASIK & Refractive Surgery Consultation and Co-Management
Thinking about LASIK or another type of laser vision correction? At Family Eye Care in North Andover, our doctors provide consultations to determine if you’re a good candidate—and if so, we’ll co-manage the entire process, from pre-op evaluation to post-op care.
What Is Refractive Surgery?
Refractive surgery includes procedures that reshape the cornea to reduce or eliminate the need for glasses or contact lenses. The most common option is LASIK (Laser-Assisted In Situ Keratomileusis), a minimally invasive outpatient procedure that:
-
Uses a computer-controlled laser to reshape the cornea
-
Takes only minutes to perform
-
Involves little discomfort and a quick recovery
-
Corrects nearsightedness, farsightedness, and astigmatism
Your Consultation
The first step is a comprehensive eye exam at Family Eye Care. During this visit, we’ll:
-
Review your vision prescription and overall eye health
-
Measure the thickness and shape of your cornea
-
Check for any underlying eye conditions
-
Discuss LASIK and other options, including risks, benefits, and costs
Not everyone is a candidate for refractive surgery, and we’ll be honest and thorough in helping you decide. You’ll also have time to ask questions and share any concerns. If you are a good candidate, we’ll refer you to a trusted ophthalmologist for the procedure.
After Surgery: Co-Management Care
Your eyes need careful monitoring after LASIK. At Family Eye Care, we provide post-operative co-management, which includes:
-
Follow-up visits to monitor healing
-
Guidance on what to do (and avoid) during recovery
-
Prompt management of any side effects or complications
Our goal is to ensure your healing goes smoothly and that you achieve the best possible vision outcome.
